Age Ranges & Rooms

The rooms at ABC Nursery in Exmouth have been thoughtfully designed to feel like a true home away from home, where comfort and learning go hand in hand. Each space is carefully arranged to inspire curiosity and exploration, with inviting areas that encourage children to play, discover, and grow. From cosy corners and soft furnishings to quiet reading nooks, every detail creates a warm, welcoming environment where children can feel relaxed, safe, and ready to learn.

Our Indoor Spaces

Adventurers (3 months to 2 years)

Our youngest children are our Adventurers, and their environment has been carefully designed to inspire curiosity, confidence, and early development. The room offers thoughtfully created learning spaces where children begin to build the foundations of role play, language, numeracy, and essential gross and fine motor skills.

A cosy sensory nook invites exploration, filled with bubbles, textures, and calming experiences. An adjoining room serves as both a sociable dining area and a vibrant messy play space, with a variety of engaging tuff tray activities to enjoy.

The Adventurers also benefit from their own dedicated garden, specially designed to encourage movement, exploration, and outdoor discovery, perfect for developing physical skills and enjoying water play in the warmer months.

Just off the main play space, a calm and comfortable sleep room provides the ideal setting for little ones to rest and recharge, ready for their next adventure.

Investigators (2 - 3 years)

The Investigators are always on the move, curious, capable, and ready for their next challenge. Having built strong foundations in the Adventurers room, they are eager to extend their learning and explore more of the world around them. Their main space has been carefully organised to support this progression, featuring a welcoming mini library and reading corner, engaging tuff tray activities, and plenty of room for building, movement, and discovery.

There is so much to investigate, from a dedicated kitchen and dining area that nurtures social mealtimes and a growing connection with food, to hands-on opportunities that spark curiosity and independence. Outdoors, the children enjoy a beautiful sensory garden designed for exploration, complete with areas to plant and care for their own flowers and vegetables. They also share a large garden space with the older Inventors children, offering exciting opportunities for climbing, cycling, and collaborative play.

Inventors (3 - 5 years)

The Inventors are our oldest children, building on their early years journey as they prepare for the important transition to primary school. At this stage, there is a strong focus on developing key social skills, understanding and responding to big emotions, and fostering greater independence, whether that’s choosing their own snacks, putting on coats, or helping to tidy their environment.

They benefit from a spacious and inspiring learning environment that supports all areas of development. Within the room, children can explore a role play and dress-up area, engage with themed tuff tray activities, enjoy the cosy teepee, take part in sensory play, or relax in a comfortable reading corner, either independently or with friends. An adjacent space is also used by the team for smaller group work, offering more focused support and targeted learning opportunities.

The Inventors share a dining space with the Investigators, as well as access to the main outdoor garden, where there are plenty of opportunities for climbing, jumping, cycling, and active play.
